Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?

Current University Honors Students and recent alumni are welcome to send in submissions to be considered for entry in the UHP Journal.

How can I participate?

Call for submissions is usually sent out during winter quarter through email. The first step in  participating is to respond to a survey to express interest. Expressing interest does not mean that you are obligated to participate, but merely that you are interested. From there, in the next following weeks, those who wish to participate can send in their submissions through the "Submit" tab in the Menu. Those submissions will be reviewed by the Editorial Team to be published.

What am I able to submit?

There are multiple categories that students are able to submit to. These include Essays, Research, Short Stories, Poems, and Visual Art. Students are more than welcome to submit more than one piece, whether it be in the same category or in multiple. Submissions can be either coursework done for a specific class or work done outside of school. However, if published or graded, they must be works completed within or after the last academic school year, as they are reflective of the current University Honors Program Student Body.

When are deadlines to submit?

Deadlines are announced a few weeks in advance and are usually set for the end of Spring Break.

When will it be published?

The publish date is usually set to be around the time of the University Honors Program end of the year Banquet, which takes place anytime in late May or early June. The published journal is      fully digital, and can be accessed through the “Current” tab.

Who can see the journals?

The journals are available for the public to view through our website. Because it is completely digital, it is free to view without any fees or restrictions. These journals are not an official publication. Rather, they are an informal collection of work that CSUSB UHP students have completed in the academic year.

How can I join the editorial team?

Editors and graphic designers are added to the team on an as needed basis, and the demand changes from year to year. Look out for emails announcing a call for editors and designers, or talk to one of the senior editors if you are interested in joining.
